How to Measure for Custom Wearable Armor
Every wearable armor set from Lone Star Cosplay is built to your exact body measurements. Accurate measurements are critical — even a small error can mean the difference between a perfect fit and an armor that doesn't sit right.
What You'll Need
- A soft cloth or fabric measuring tape (the kind tailors use)
- A friend to help — self-measuring is harder than it looks
- Form-fitting clothing (or measure in your underwear for the most accurate numbers)
- A mirror and a notepad
Measurements We Need
Send us all of the following measurements when you order wearable armor. Use inches or centimeters — just tell us which one you're using.
1. Head Circumference
Wrap the tape around the widest part of your head — about an inch above your eyebrows and ears. This is for the helmet fit.
2. Shoe Size
US, EU, or UK — just specify which system. This determines boot/greave sizing.
3. Glove Size
S / M / L / XL — or measure the circumference of your hand around the knuckles (excluding the thumb).
4. Shirt Size
Your usual t-shirt size (S, M, L, XL, XXL). Used as a starting reference.
5. Pants Size
Waist + inseam (e.g., 32x32) or your usual size.
6. Shoulder Circumference
Measure across the back, from the outer edge of one shoulder to the outer edge of the other. Keep your arms relaxed at your sides.
7. Chest Circumference
Wrap the tape around the widest part of your chest, under the armpits. Breathe normally — don't inhale deeply.
8. Biceps Circumference
Flex your arm. Measure around the thickest part of your bicep while flexed.
9. Forearm Circumference
Measure around the thickest part of your forearm, with your arm relaxed.
10. Thigh Circumference
Stand with feet shoulder-width apart. Measure around the thickest part of your thigh (usually 4–6 inches below the crotch).
11. Circumference 1 Inch Above the Top of the Knee
Measure exactly 1 inch above the top of your kneecap. This is critical for greave fit.
12. Neck Circumference
Wrap the tape around the base of your neck, where a collar would sit.
Pro Tips
- Measure twice. Double-check each number before sending.
- Don't pull the tape tight. It should sit snug against your skin without compressing.
- Stand naturally. Don't tense up or suck in. We're measuring the real you.
- Send a photo if unsure. If you're not sure how to measure a specific area, send us a picture — we'll guide you.
- Helmet only? We just need head circumference, shoe size (for proportions), and a photo of you front-on for proportional accuracy.
