Why Elden Ring Has the Best Cosplay Props in Gaming
Elden Ring is a cosplayer's dream. The game is packed with unforgettable character designs — intricate armor sets, impossibly large weapons, glowing Erdtree motifs — and every single one of them translates beautifully into physical props. Whether you want to be the game's most iconic villain, its most tragic hero, or just want to carry the coolest sword at the convention, Elden Ring delivers.
At Lone Star Cosplay, we've built multiple Elden Ring props and we get requests for new ones regularly. Here's our guide to the best Elden Ring cosplays, what you need for each, and how to pull them off.
Malenia, Blade of Miquella
Malenia is arguably the most iconic character in Elden Ring — and one of the most recognizable cosplay characters in all of gaming right now. Her look is distinctive: a golden prosthetic arm, red hair, and the flowing white of the Halo of Hair. She's also genuinely hard to put together, which makes a great Malenia cosplay all the more impressive at a convention.
What you need:
- Malenia's Prosthetic Arm — This is the centerpiece of the cosplay. We make a full wearable 1:1 replica that includes the hand, arm, and shoulder armor. It's the piece people will notice first.
- Malenia's Helmet — Her winged helm is stunning. We make a wearable version with LED option. Getting this helmet right is what separates a good Malenia from a great one.
- White bodysuit or flowing dress as a base costume
- Red wig (long, flowing)
- Scarlet Rot makeup details (optional but effective)
The Darkmoon Greatsword Build (Ranni)
Ranni the Witch is one of the most beloved characters in all of FromSoftware's catalog. Her design — pale blue skin, black robes, four arms — is challenging to pull off fully, but carrying the Darkmoon Greatsword is instantly recognizable and looks incredible in photos.
What you need:
- Darkmoon Greatsword — 120cm, available painted with the moonlit silver and blue glow effect, or unpainted for custom finishes. This blade has a beautiful elegant shape that photographs really well.
- Blue-black robes or layered dark fabric costume
- Blue face/body paint or prosthetics for Ranni's iconic look
- Three additional arm props (advanced build)
Maliketh, Black Blade
Maliketh is a challenging cosplay — he's essentially a massive armored beast — but if you want to stop the entire convention floor, this is your build. The Black Blade is the focal prop: a massive, jagged, curved blade that's immediately recognizable to any Elden Ring player.
What you need:
- Maliketh's Black Blade — imposing, dark, and extremely photogenic. Available painted or unpainted.
- Black bodysuit as a base
- Foam or 3D printed beast head and armor attachments
Guts' Dragonslayer (Elden Ring Version)
This one's a crossover. The Elden Ring version of Guts' iconic Dragonslayer from Berserk is a fan-favorite — it appears in the game as a nod to Hidetaka Miyazaki's love of the manga. It's an enormous two-handed sword that looks absolutely wild in photos and is guaranteed to get reactions from both Elden Ring and Berserk fans.
What you need:
- Guts Sword Elden Ring Edition — available in 121cm, 151cm, and 182cm. The 182cm version is truly massive and requires some planning to transport, but the photos are worth it.
- Dark, worn fantasy costume or Guts-inspired outfit
General Tips for Elden Ring Cosplay
- Go big on the weapons. Elden Ring weapons are famously oversized. A sword that looks "normal" sized will look small compared to what people expect from the game.
- Weather everything. Almost every weapon and armor piece in Elden Ring shows wear — scratches, rust, golden cracks. If you're painting your own props, don't skip the weathering step.
- LED can make a huge difference. The Erdtree glow and the moonlit blue of weapons like the Darkmoon Greatsword are iconic. If a prop has an LED option, it's worth considering.
- Pair up at cons. Malenia and Maliketh together? Ranni and Blaidd? Group Elden Ring cosplays are incredible and the fandom will go wild.
